But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear. -Matthew 13:16 ESV
Looking through a window I see opportunity, a variety of shapes and colors. It stirs the adventure up in me to see beyond my four walls. What’s going on out there? Is the day bright and sunny or it is a cloud streaked sky with vibrant colors reflecting off the sun? My glance through the window is anticipatory whether I am looking in or out.
That same setting can conjure up different reactions depending on who is doing the looking. Maybe someone only sees the smudges on a dirty glass and can’t see beyond. Maybe the view is not pleasing to the looker and the experience is over before it began! Perhaps the view is the same but their perspective is different. They are coming from a different place in life where their thoughts and experiences give them another vision.
That is how it is today. It seems that many of us are looking at the same things and we see them differently. There are so many topics of discussion and division today. I heard someone say that it is the lens we use to look that forms our opinion. Yes, yes, that is true. If our lens is through God’s vision and His perspective we will have one view and if we have a man’s view of things, we don’t have that expanded holy vision from God and our sight can be limited. If our beliefs are centered around this world and the things of it we need a bigger vision.Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight! -Isaiah 5:21 ESV God only wants what is best for us and when we surrender to Him, He protects us. He gives us holy wisdom about some of the decisions facing us today. Someone asked me recently who do I trust? I said I trust Jesus. He has never led me astray yet. My prayer is that He will give me the eyes to see and the ears to hear so I can seek His Will.
