Be careful what you think. Your life is shaped by your thoughts. Proverbs 4:23
Give me my camera phone and an afternoon at the beach and I am totally content. Capturing the roll of the thunderous waves, the sparkle of the sun on the water, the diving pelicans and sunning seagulls. I can easily snap over 100 photos just to get one that I love for composition, color and action. What does my photograph say on its own? Does it tell a story? Is it worth being admired?
Our life is something that has great value and we should ask, do we have a story to tell. Or better yet, can someone learn from our actions and the way we choose to live. Are we outspoken, full of opinion and overshadowing others with our desire to change everyone but ourselves? Do we work behind the scenes to help others without seeking earthly reward? Are we always keen observers to notice the needs of others and deliver if we can? What will be said of us when we have gone from this earth? We were kind. We were mean. Hard to work for. A great teacher. A compassionate person to the core. What will our reflection say about our life?
What is the footprint that we leave for other to see? We are leading with our example. Just last week we were at a family dinner and my 8 year old grandson was coloring and seeming to be in his own world. But as I watched him closely, he was listening to our conversation, word for word. We talked about a range of subjects. Even when we don’t realize it, we are setting an example. When we take pictures we get an instant reflection, we will store it up forever. That’s how it is when people look up to us and try to follow our lead. Things we do and say have a lasting impression. We must always be careful and lead a life that is worthy.
