T he steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV sunrise brings with it hope for the new day. Photographers like to rise early to catch a glimpse of that first morning light. They will say that no two days are the same and they are right. Each day unfolds uniquely.
One thing is for certain though and that is that each day is a blessing. But surprisingly not everyone feels this way. Many have allowed their days to become mundane, boring and without joy. This has probably happened to all of us and certainly me. But when we change our heart then we look around with gratitude and realize what a gift we have been given. A God-given gift to renew ourselves, to live for Him and to be His hands on his earth. But we are not perfect. Like others, I have said, “ Oh no, another Monday…another day of work.” Yet that gravely ill person is hanging on to hope and is overjoyed to be given another day. Chores and cooking and mowing the lawn seems so routine. But to those people that cannot do those things, it would be their life’s dream to do for themselves and others and not be dependent. It is all in our perspective. To the caregiver, babysitter or helper it is important to know that things change. You won’t be in that role forever. Things don’t stay the same. Find a treasured moment to hold on to that adds joy to your day. Do you see that our own outlook has so much to do with how our day goes? And don’t take any unpleasantness from the day personally. God is teaching me that lesson now. When we give so much or care so greatly and our efforts are misread or unappreciated, we have to keep trying to walk in the light of love.
