MotherMother Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all. –Proverbs 31:25-30 ESV

Mother. What can be said that hasn’t already been said? She is the glue of the family. The heartbeat. The tireless wonder that gets it all done and no one knows how she does it. She changes diapers, wipes tears, sits up all night to nurse a sick child. She instils morals and models character and preaches proper conduct and behavior. She scolds when she must and against all we do, she still loves us anyway. She plants a garden and teaches us how to tend it.  She understands more than we do about our own feelings and emotions and guides us through each phase. Once we reach adulthood, she is still there. Standing on the sidelines while we take over many of the traditions that were once hers. She watches with pride and a bit of sadness too that her world is speeding by. She wants to remain useful and helpful and a source of wisdom. A mother’s love is often the only light that brings us back from the shadows. That is God’s light that shines in her. These words ring true by Washington Irving…..A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.”  Happy Mother’s Day
