A Thanksgiving Prayer
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
-Colossians 3:15 NIV
As we begin the week of Thanksgiving, we have gratitude and joy in each of us as we say thanks to God for the many blessings He has bestowed on us this past year.
Our hearts are warmed with the beauty that surrounds us: the ocean, blue sky, golden sea oats and the white clouds above. The salt air breezes that refresh us and the sunrises and sunsets that captivate us. We are grateful for the chance to see all of God’s natural gifts in such abundance.
The beauty that envelopes us eases any pain, sorrow or disappointment that we may have. God’s love and warmth flows through us. His hand is on us at all times. We are secure that we have family and friends that care for us. Even if it is not possible to be together this Thanksgiving, our hearts are united. We close our eyes and feel their touch and know distance can’t keep us apart.
We offer praise and thanksgiving to God for all good things. Prayerfully we ask that our troops that are serving and protecting us are blessed and that their every need be met. We pray for peace and ask for God to give our leaders wisdom towards peace.
We are thankful for so much as we reach for one another in friendship, fellowship and faith. We thank God for our merry hearts and laughter. We thank God for strengthening us where we are weak and being our beacon of hope and light each day. We are thankful for the gift of life and the ability to give and receive love.
